hello guys I had set my new build with the same hard drive but with different parts.

after installing it my pc says I have to activate windows which I did on the phone.

But my pc is all dark but its not showing me this windows version is not genuine, is it a virus attack ?

BTW its a genuine afaik my bro got it from college we have it installed on his PC and mine.

2nd question how can I improve my hibernate time e.g from 12 sec - 4seconds or less.

    Thanks

Did you change you motherboard? If you did I think you may have to reinstall windows for it to activate properly.

No idea about the hibernation other than get a solid state drive, sorry.

Since xp where Windows wouldnt Allow you to even get into the desktop.. Win 7 will now even tho its not a genuine copy will still run away like nothing is wrong..

if you installed a new MB, the info in the temp folder will be after changing phone Microsoft and example to them.

They will be gone.. unless you divide your hard drive in half

If it's just a black backround when you get into your profile it's just a matter of turning the Windows 7 Default theme back on in the display / appearance properties screen. The Aero interface gets disabled when windows fails the WGA check and once you activate it needs to be manually enabled.
Regarding the hibernation issue, the more memory you have in your system, the longer it takes to dump that to the hard disk, best way to speed that up is increase the write performance of your drive.

Windows 7 puts all files ect into a folder called windows old when you do a fresh install on top of a old one.(dont format the disk)

thanks for that that did the trick.

how do I increase the write performance of my drive ?

how do I increase the write performance of my drive ?

Just make sure that the correct chipset & SATA drivers are installed, if they're not then the drives performance might be set to PIO modem instead of DMA which would cause a huge performance loss.
If everything is in order then only an upgrade to an SSD will make a difference, assuming you don't already have an SSD that is...

Is it an OEM license that you carried from the old build?

    Yes. it is

    Yes. it is

Strictly speaking you wern't supposed to get it activated ;) OEM licenses are tied to the motherboard they were activated on, and die when that motherboard dies or is changed :). Thats one of the reasons why they are significantly cheaper

    Yes. it is
That would certainly be why. And Original Equipment Manufacturer license is only really meant to be installed in a PC intended for Resale. And, it's meant only to be installed in the 1 system, ever.

You put the license into a 2nd machine, something the license is not specified to do. In all technicality, you've breached your license agreement. Also when you upgrade the license (say get a windows 8 upgrade disc) you're upgrading a windows 7 oem license to a windows 8 oem license.

Long story short it's usually a far smaller pain in the ass to jump onto the retail bandwagon. Once you've bought into the retail license you can upgrade that license through successive versions of windows and carry it from one machine to the next.

You will be ok as Microsoft let you activate over the phone, they should have quizzed you before doing it, you are in breach of the EULA but your activation should work

Why do you want to Reinstall Win7 theirs Nothing Wrong with it...

Its a blank Screen as its not Activated you lost all Settings in CMOS and the BIOS when you Upgraded your MB..

just ring Microsoft and get it Re Activated.

Your Win7 will Work as Normal..

When Win XP came out you could crack the whole thing were you didnt need to Activate it but when SP2 came out cracked versions of XP were uncracked with this new update so people where now Locked out of their PC,

Microsoft Broke the law by doing this. So What they did with SP3 is it gives you a Warning that you do not have a legal copy of Xp please ring Microsoft..
As old people were being scammed out of buying xp but getting a illegal copy of it..

Now in Win 7 if your Microsoft copy is not Activate it will just tell you that all only thing is your cant update it.. I have a copy on Vmware that not Activated and a Copy of Office 2011 thats not activated and all working fine just a Red Tool Bar stating this is not an Activated copy.. Im a Student cant offered a copy of Office in which i dont even use once in a month to write reports.

Now i am typing my assignment on MS2007 and the auto correct wont work.
It enabled, i have tried it manually still it wont work.

Windows Activation problems won't affect Office software, check the autocorrect settings in options!

You don't need to update the CMOS/Bios but you do need drivers usually. Tell us the pc make and model number and we can help

    I think this:

Is your mobo. Get chipset drivers (Nforce 430 by the looks of it) here or at www.nvidia.com. Vista drivers should work grand with Windows 7 btw. Theres no need to update the BIOs btw, so ignore that upgrade step
