What would you buy if you had 5-€6000 with about 10000 miles to do in the year

Some Japanese box with a petrol engine...as for which one I'm not sure..

Depends on whether you need a big car or a small hatchback i.e Toyota Avensis or Honda Civic.

Personally, I'd go for one of the following:

    Mazda3
    Mazda6
    Honda Civic

Both Mazda's would be petrol too.

    I'd probably buy this: http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=201138204625999

If you can give people a bit more information about your needs/priorities/likes/dislikes, it'll help to narrow it down a bit.

Im only 19 so I doubt I will get insured in a 4.3 petrol  Also mpg would be a pig priority. Was thinking of an audi a4 (overpriced ) or a bmw 320 ( everyone thinks thats mad being diesel )

Do you ever need to carry stuff? Do you often have passengers? Long runs or short? Country or city? Do you drive fast? What's your max engine size for insurance? What do/don't you like? People can't help you without this very basic info.

yeah if your 19, legroom and boot space is the last thing on your mind! If you can afford a nice beemer, i'd say you'd love it most mates i know who bought them, love them. Not sure how super reliable they are though and expensive if something does go wrong. Know a few who had audi a4s and the general consensus seems to be that they are overated and not that reliable, also mechanics hate them cause there difficult to work on.

Well im going to college at the moment...Yes there is usually always two other passengers. Its both country and city ..Usually about 20 miles every day..this goes up to about 40 miles for most Saturdays and Mondays. Cant afford to drive fast with the sort of petrol prices at the moment:P Usually its average driving..Id say I could push it up to a 1.6 if I wanted.

If you didn't already have one i'd probably be suggesting a Focus! What would you change about your current car?

If you love the car then getting it fixed up properly would be a lot cheaper than changing?

I'd be inclined to bring the car to whoever fixed it initially and get them to amend their handywork! Then hang on to the focus. My wife has the 04 model and its a pleasure to drive and maintain.
