Liverpool 2-0, Suarez and Downing...and the grudge between the two clubs that has been building for years to finally be settled.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,787 ✭✭✭Jayob10

I was at the game in 2004, we beat them 4-0 I think it was. Was one of Alonso's first games and he provided a passing masterclass.

On a sidenote Gary Doherty was also playing and he provided the comedy subplot :p

I think it will be a tight game today, I reckon there will alot of space between our midfield and defence, look for Hoolohan to have a good game in the absence of Lucas.

It'll be very interesting to see what side we put out, I think we need to press them high up the field and play direct passing to feet to our forwards, so i'd like to see Suarez and Bellamy feature.

I'll go with a nervous 2-1 win (Suarez to score twice & Bradley Johnson to score for Norwich)

1-0 Liverpool I'm going to go with

I'll go with Skrtel from a corner just to be odd about it

A seven nil demolition job by Liverpool with everyone on the Kop turning around and baring their backsides at Delia Smith come the final whistle.

If Henderson starts, really hope its in the centre. With Lucas out, it could be one of the few opportunities he gets to play there

Love to see Bellamy get a start too, I reckon himself and Suarez have the makings of a great partnership

Hope Carra starts too, I have Norwich to miss a pen at 25/1. With Carra on the team sheet the bets half way there

Agreed on the point about Henderson - he played there when he came on against United - am I right in saying that?

He played brilliantly when he came on so he deserves a crack from the start today imo

Not saying you are way off as we have been far from effective at finishing teams off this season but do you really think we don't have enough to beat teams like Norwich in Anfield?

He played centrally when he came on yes. Its a stretch to say he played "brilliantly" now in fairness, but he did ok

Henderson has alot of potential, he needs to start imposing himself on games, he has a habit of letting games pass him by.

He made one great tackle last week against United and you could see his confidence soar after that, after a tentative start.

Yea he came on for Lucas

I'd love to see something like this

    JR
    GJ----MK----DA
    JE

    JH
    CA
    LS
    SG
    CB
    AC

I haven't seen much of Kelly in the centre, but given that its an area we've been weak in, coupled with the fact we're relatively strong at RB, I'd like to see him start there, he is a CB after all

EDIT: Just seen Nathan Eccelston scored for Rochdale

Henderson has played well when he has played in the centre, both for Liverpool and England u-21's.

    Thats his best position.

For the amount of time he was given on the pitch I thought he involved himself in the play an almighty amount - like Bellamy against Everton, game on, was industrious and looked very, very good.

Were it not for a brilliant save from De Gea he'd have scored a peach of a goal too...(I know if's and but's but still!)

Speaking of Bellamy - he deserves a crack today too tbh

Is Agger back today?? I've missed him :)

I think it'll be next season before we chance Kelly in the centre, like Carra before him, he was given plenty of games at RB to settle in before making the move to the centre....Kelly has plenty of time anyway

Don't think we'll see Kenny playing Suarez that far away from the box tbh but would like to see it tried out

Yea he was on the bench last week week. I can't see Kelly start there either, but it is something I'd love to see tried out and Norwich at home would be a good place to try it

Also, read somewhere, it could have been here that a possible factor in alot of Kelly's injuries is the amount of runs he makes down the right. I know nothing about that sort of thing, but suppose it could be plausible

Regarding Suarez, I don't necessarily mean playing him on the right wing, but more an advanced right/central role, cutting in

That XI looks right for a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2, I'm hoping it is the first formation and not the latter. Doubt it would work well with a 4-3-3 given the midfield options available for that formation.

A pretty attacking first XI though. Looks like Kenny wants goals as badly as I do today :D

Looking forward to seeing how Bellamy and Suarez link up, against Brighton they looked good together.

I am more looking forward to seeing Enrique and Bellamy link up. That pairing looked very good on our left side earlier in the season, plus Downing looked very good on our right during the same game.

Most attacking 11 i've seen for a while.

I think KK wants to make an example of them.

    Potential for 4 or 5-0.

    Or 0-1.

Nice attacking team that! Makes me much happier to see the likes of Bellamy come in where as last year it would of been an ngog!

Carroll on the bench too. Shows how strong our squad is now :)

Would be my preferred set up today, with Suarez being told to wander wherever he wants.

Any kind of a win will do as Norwich could prove tricky enough as they did against utd a couple of weeks age. But a confident 3-0 would be vry nice indeed. Suarez, Bellamy and Downing.

bit odd that Carroll isn't starting today - I would have thought Norwich at Anfield would have been a perfect game for him to boost the confidence. Is he carrying a knock or something?

    +1
if he doesn't start against utd and doesn't start against norwich who does he start against?

hopefully he's getting some extra work done on his fitness and working on getting his hunger back.

The Carroll situation is very worrying alright. His market vaue at the moment must be less than £10m.

Agree to an extent, but I think giving Bellamy a start is more important. He hasn't played much since coming back
