What carbohydrate do you choose post exercise?

I've included some choices above in poll but feel free to say why you chose one over the other or any other ideas you have regarding post training nutrition. Specially the details of your carbohydrates more than anything.

    Generally none in pwo shake.

Glycogen will replenish in the next 24 hours if eating mixed meals of protein/carbs anyway.

Sometimes chocolate milk from Spar on the way home. More of than not it's whatever I cooked for dinner that's waiting at home.

I'm all about the Insulin post workout, get that shiznit spiking :D

EDIT: It can take up to three days to fully restore glycogen, but that is dependent on how intense the exercise was ie. 10mile run vs. a light gym session.

Whey can spike your insulin just not near as much as simple carbs.

Sorry I should've been more clear in my post. For me at this time, simple carbs pwo are not necessary. I'm just doing weights 3-4 times a week with mixed in short cardio.

So not fully depleted and plenty of time replenish.

I like the idea of having a quick carb like Maltodextrin with a quick absorbed protein like whey isolate. It's a nice balance for me, as i always go straight home after training and and eat solid protein like chicken with a clatter of oats and broccoli with in an hour of PWO drink.

Maybe some supplements companies talking up the dextrose carb thing to boost sales, but it's fine for me.

I use a mixture of maltodextrin and glucose. My main reason is that it makes unflavoured whey taste very very nice. A small amount of vitamin c further mproves the flavour.
