    HI,

    I have a problem.

When I backed up my iPad to upgrade it to IOS 5, it restored every app I ever had and all the photos from my machine.

This meant there was no room for Music.

Is there any way to back it up so that when it restores after the IOS update it was exactly the same as it was before I started.

Seems like it should be simple but I can't figure it out.

That's what a backup does: restore everything to the way it was before. It sounds to me like instead of restoring you set it up as a new device and synced everything.

Similar to what happened me. Very frustrating. So to clarify? Is it possible to get iPhone back to exactly what u had before iOS update? Ie. same contacts, same apps and music?

Yes, restoring from backup should do that.

Does the phone backup automatically when you sync it . I try to stay away from sync the phone as much as possible because something always gets messed up

To back it up manually, right click on the device in iTunes, then select backup.

    Hi,

I am hoping to upgrade from I phone 3 to 5s in next few days. How can I be sure that contacts, messages, photos etc will come across to my new phone?

    Thanks

Use iCloud to backup, then when setting up a new iphone it'll ask if you want to restore from an iCloud backup.

Also plug your device in and hit backup on iTunes.

As above. iCloud is much better for backups IMO. iTunes lost my contacts a few times before but never happens with iCloud.
