Broken RF in connector

Hi there, my friends child broke the RF in jack at the back of her parents TV. They have a strange setup whereby the sky box is upstairs and fed down into the tv (through the now broken connector) and controlled via a magic eye device. The idea is that they have no extra devices in the sitting room just the tv. Anyway, they have had to use a video temporarily to convert the signal but now want to lose the video from the equation. Is there a type of RF modulator that can take RF in and output to either VCA or SCART? (the only input options they have left on the TV besides the PC VGA).

An old VCR. It's a RECEIVER/Tuner that converts RF to video.

    Modulators convert Video to RF.

Why not see if socket can be repaired?

Hi Watty, tanx for the reply, yea they're using a video at present but it's an eyesore to them. I was hoping there was a kind of reverse modulator but must not be cos I've searched for one for ages! A repair job might be the best thing so even though it's a lot of hassle as the tv is huge and mounted..

Is this what you searched for?

How do you tune it? Also there are currently no "digital only" TVs. The DTA is just a combined Sky-eye and very basic hard to tune receiver. A "reverse" Modulator is a Tuner or Receiver. There is no other kind of thing to turn RF into composite.
Convert analogue RF signals to Scart for connection to digital-only TVs.

You'd be better to get the socket repaired. Far better value. Global Invacom / TVLink don't even list the DTA any more and it's unlikely to be very easy to tune or do more than one channel or do as good picture as a VHS tuner.

Even if it is still stocked by Satcure it's £ 56.34 about €66 and a really poor quality inflexible solution compared to a repair or a VHS behind a chair (use longer RF cables to hide the VHS).

I expect it comes with tuning instructions. Probably a case of "connect up, select Scart input, and turn screw till picture appears".

There are some "digital only" Freeview TVs on sale on the mainland. No analogue tuners.

I agree it's a worse solution than repair. I was merely answering the question:

...so he can consider the options.
