Old Desire that's rooted but I need to unlock

    Guys have a rooted old Desire which is with O2 and want to give it to my missus who has a 3 sim. It seems to be locked to O2 which I thought would be negated as it is rooted (leedroid). Anyone explain what is my best course of action in unlocking it? Thanks!
    Without paying obviously

    only way i know to get it unlocked without paying for it is to ask the network that it was originally purchased from and if you meet the qualifying criteria then you are able to unlock for free

    Thanks for that didn't realise they offered that, just called O2 and left a message so hopefully they will play ball as I had the phone for 2 years on bill pay with them. There is a method over on XDA but the results are very hit and miss and the thread is 100 pages + long!
