I heard recently ben dunne opened a string of new Gym's accross dublin, membership seems very reasonable at only 200 per annum, compared to what some other hotels and places charge. has anybody been to any of them ?? Any reports on what they are like??

    This is the website:
    http://www.bendunnegyms.com/northwood.aspx

I used to be a member of the gym in Northwood and can't complain about anything really. It was reasonably priced and usually no issues with getting to use equipment.

the buildings look bland enough but that wouldn't hold me back. . . looks to have all the equipment and facilities a person would need like. any idea if they would do direct debit or is it just cash up front for the year? Also, I would be using it late in the evening , I wonder would it be very busy at that stage??

Looks good on first glance anyway..

There are a good few of us in work who use gyms in town during lunch. The majority of us are in Crunch but a few joined the Ben Dunne at the back of the Jervis.

They like the place nd never seem to have too much problem getting on the equipment but they have had to queue to use the changing rooms on a good few occasions. Enough times to make them think of paying the 2-3 times more to change gyms. Perhaps it's just lunchtimes it's that busy though.

ya it would be jervis id be looking to join allrite. might just go give it a look wen i move up next week.. . . looks like there is plenty of machines though.. wouldn't be looking at free weights or anything , just treadmill and bike usually.. and ground mat for strength exercises..

id be living on north circular road, would it make more sense to join jervis or westpoint on the blancherstown bypass?? Dont know my way around dub yet.. or if busses go out to westpoint.. sorry to ask , i realise u are not a dublin bus representative (properly) ..

I'd decide what time of day you think you will more than likely use the gym and then go and visit/view then. Don't join that day instead go back again a couple of days later at the same time. That way if it's quiet/busy both times you know it's normal.

I'd join whichever gym you think is the easiest to get to. If the buses are every 30 mins to blanch and you just miss one are you likely to wait 29 mins for the next one or go home and put your feet up instead? is there a gym nr work/college that you could go to on your way home/morning /lunch?

Depending on where along the NCR you will be based but the Northwood gym in Santry would probably be as close as the Blanch option.
The 4 bus runs through Phibsborough and out through Ballymun with the stop located about 5mins walk from the Northwood gym. There are other bus options through Santry with a 10 min walk to the same gym.
If you had a bike it's only a 10min cycle from the NCR.

Was a member of Blanchardstown about 10 years ago and there was nothing but issues in getting to use the equipment at a reasonable time, i.e. the morning or evening. I can only imagine it's worse now with the sell em cheap and pack em in policy now.
