    I'm just wondering...

If one were to be offered seasonal work (until Christmas) with flexi hours -could be anything from 4-36 hours; how would this affect SW payments?

I understand you can't work more than 3 days a week. Do Welfare pay you as a casual worker for the hours not worked?

With regard to the Rent Supplement. I think the rules are:
    • You can't work more than 30 hours
    • You must already be receiving a SW payment
    • AND You must already be receiving the Rent Supplement

Is anyone able to clarify the impact on payments for me?

I know that the salary will be taxed and be subject to USC and PRSI in any case.

Any advice/help would be very welcome!

    TIA :)

Social Welfare will pay for days not worked. If you work > 3 days you will not receive any payment unless one of those days is Sunday. If you are on JSB at top rate and work 3 days you will receive €94 approx. If one of the days is Sunday then you will get 4 days payment from SW €126 approx. On the other hand if you are on JSA your earnings from this employment will be means tested and this rate will be applied to you JSA while working. It would be impossible for me to say how much per day you would receive on JSA for the days you do not work. Your claim will also be re-categorised to casual status for this period and you will be given dockets to submit every week marking the days you worked and they days you didnt work. You will also have to get your employer to fill out a form and submit that as well.
