    Hey guys,

Housemate was wondering where she could buy a carton of egg nog? We live in Cork but she'll happily order it and get it posted!

    Thanks in advance :)

    *bump*

Would love to know this too.

I check all the major places every year and always have to end up making my own. Never the same as the stuff in cartons from the States though :(

There's a shop called Sawers in Belfast which sells tinned stuff apparently but it's not quite the same

I think the problem with ordering it in is the cartons have to remain refrigerated so can't be posted domestically

There's always the egg-nog lattes in Starbucks

    4 eggs
    1/3 cup of sugar
3 cups of full fat milk (no skim or 1, or 2 %!)
    a sprinkle of allspice
    a sprinkle of cinnamon

Separate the eggs. Make absolutely sure no yolk gets in the whites, if it does, discard it and start over. I like to use an intermediary dish to prevent the whole thing from being ruined.
Beat the egg yolks until they are smooth. Then add the sugar a bit at a time until it is all incorporated. Then add the milk to that and stir gently until it is all mixed
With a beater or in a kitchen-aid, or even your own two hands if you can stand it, beat the egg whites in a super clean dry bowl until they become stiff and peaks begin to form.
Gently add the yolk mix in, folding and stirring as you go.
    Chill the mixture.
You will have a froth head when it is completely chilled. This is supposed to happen! The froth is GOOD.
Sprinkle a tiny bit of allspice and a tiny bit of cinnamon on each serving. That way you can smell the spices just before you drink it and when you are done, the sweet foam is a great way to finish it off.

If it is not rich enough for you, the next time you try it you can also add a cup of thick whipping cream.

Shouldn't be too bad because your not using the yokes, only the egg white.

There's nothing wrong with eggs. The sugar appears to be the only unhealthy thing about it.

Eggs are very high in unsaturated fat.

Eggs have an undeserved bad rep.

Maybe it's the company they keep. Them sausages and rashers are a very bad lot.:D

I all seriousness I stand to be corrected but I was under the impression eggs were high in saturated fat.

Fallon and Byrne have been in touch to say they won't be able to get Egg Nog this side of Christmas.
