Ok so I've looked at a few posts but I still can't get rid of the jailbreak. Now I backed up my iPhone today and did a restore from back up because I was led to believe this was what to do. This however did not work, so do I restore the whole phone to factory settings and then sync? I just want to make sure I don't lose all my contacts/apps.

Ok so I have restored the phone back to factory settings. Now I am currently setting it back up, will I select the "Set Up as New iPhone" option or the "Restore from iTunes Backup" where my backup was from when the phone was jailbroken
