Looking for a decent 1st larger kit.

Hi i'm looking into getting my dad a home brew larger kit,could anybody suggest a good starter kit for larger about 4% ish and maybe some links to websites that sell them.Thanks.

I've both of both of these guys and found their service to be top class and prices very reasonable.

If you are looking for a nice lager starter kit might I recommend the Coopers Canadian Blonde that HBW sell in conjunction with their beer making equipment + ingrediant kit @ http://www.homebrewwest.ie/brewsmarter-starter-beer-kit-with-caps-and-capper-531-p.asp

All the equipment he will need is here, all you will need to tell him to do is to get the brown or green (preferable brown because of UV protection) bottles, which shouldn't be a problem to gather over the 3 - 4 weeks the beer will ferment for....

There is no need for you to get him a brew belt, the temperature should maintain between 17 - 21 in a normal house, wrap towel round it if he feels it is getting too cold...

Also included is a bottles capper + caps very handy

The only extras you will need to buy are brewing sugar, dry malt extract, carbonation drops, which will prob set you back another 12 quid, all available here -

After that its pretty much up to him to keep it sanitized and the temperature correct.

The canadian blonde is grand lager to start with and a lot of guys have posted here in recent weeks about their own coopers canadian lager so there is alot of advice around aswell as on youtube and other forums.

I have done this one in the past and found the results to be very good. I dry hopped it with 25g of Saaz in secondary.
