There's a niceleupold for sale here that would be a lovely scope, also was looking at a nice burris sixX 2-12x50 in a shop in waterford for 590, was a lovely scope with nice reticle

id go for the 223 i was looking at a hornet and decide against it because there wasnt as much ammo available for it as the 223 and the ammo was cheaper for 223

haven said that the hornet is proven and stands the test of time and there is a lot of guys here that would sell them

as for the scope i think up to 12 would be enough ive 6.5-20x50 and i have never use it past 10 power while hunting but thats me its a personal prefferance id say

I have a 22 Hornet and I have a Hawke nite eye sitting on it with a magnification up to 20. To be honest it never leaves 8 power as it allows for quick acquisition of the target and at the ranges I shoot at out to max 200 yards that's plenty for me.

You should be able to just about pick up a sh Smidth and Bender 8x56 for that money.

They are brilliant in low light conditions.

I was looking at a burris sixX 2-12x50 in my local dealer. Its a very nice scope, Id say it would be very good gor lamping. Thats a good price for it.

I'd suggest a Simmons 6-20x, I think the insides are the same as Leupold under license, I've had a few and they were very clear, bright, no tracking or zero jump.

Check to see if the scope your getting changes zero when you change magnifcation, cheaper scopes often track the zero. its very annoying.

    Cheers:)
