Both my wife and I are noticing "no service" in our home where this never happened before the ios5 upgrade.
I am on three and she is on O2.

I noticed it turned 3G off itself the other night, was getting the no service message for ages until I twigged it.

Mine hasn't changed, but I'm always in good areas of reception. Could be an issue where the area of reception is weak. There was also this problem when IOS 4 was launched and they issued a patch back then, which also recalculated how the signal bar was displayed.

Service is shocking since the upgrade for both myself and my wife. Really driving me mad now, poor service, and the battery being toally flaahed...

thought it was grand upto today but while in the gym (which is patchy enough anyway) it lost all reception and was stuck on "no service".
Came out of gym and turned on/off airplane mode (usual 10 sec wait) and still no joy.
Had to reboot the phone before it picked it back up..didn't try the carrier search though..on 3 btw

    Can you try this experiment.
If you're in a non 3g area put the phone on the sofa and count the reception bars. Then pick it up and hold it and see what happens to the bars. I'm doing this and the bars drop from three to 1 or none when I hold the phone.
    I have a iphone 4.

are you holding it in your left hand with your left thumb covering the left hand side of the phone completely? ;)

It's in my left hand with the thumb resting on the volume buttons. No bumper. This problem existed with the original release but was supopsed to have been fixed. Now it's back .

The bars also drop in a good 3G area. I hold in my left hand with fingers on the buttons .
