G&G Hop Unit Question

After being recommended here I got my first aeg, a G&G GR15 raider about three weeks ago and I love it. Today I replaced the stock inner barrel with a Madbull black python. On the top of the hop unit there is a small nub and I think that there should be a small spring here (from what I've seen on UTube) but it was not in the gun when I opened it to replace the barrel. I didn't loose it - it came that way from the shop. How important is this spring? I tried a few springs from biros but they were too big and kept falling off so I just put it back together without the spring. Thanks.

I was actually talking to someone about this recently and there doesn't seem to be a spring in that location on the Raider even though you would expect to find them on other AEGs

G&G Raiders do NOT use that small spring. If you decompress the spring (push the forward assist), the air nozzle will return forward, and there will be no movement in the hop up chamber. This renders the small hop-up spring obsolete.

Thanks lads. I did read that on some aegs this little spring pushes the chamber back towards the air nozzle to form a better seal but as this one doesn't seem to need it I'll just leave it as it is
