Cruising/family dinghy

I'm having a complete re-think of my current boating needs, and after a couple of seasons where getting out and sailing was almost non-existant (work/family commitments) I'm looking at 'downgrading' to a dinghy.

What I'm considering is the following:
    14-16' LOA
    grp
    Relatively dry, family friendly.
Ability to launch and retrieve either s/h or two people.

    I'm not bothered about racing.

From what I can see the Wayfarer ticks most of these boxes. Just wondering if there is anything else I should be looking at, or if anyone has any feedback, good or bad, on the wayfarer, or similar dinghys.

    Do they make grp mermaids?

GP14? What about one of the smaller boats in the Drascombe range?

Mermaids are beautiful looking, but I don't have the time/skill/patience to maintain a wooden boat.

Tabnabs, thanks for the suggestion; I'll have a look at the GP14s.

Have a look at the Topper Sport 16. Lots of space and an asymetric spinnaker for easy handling.

I recently sailed an RS Vision in decent winds with a first time sailor and we got on ok so maybe it's another option. It seems to have good reviews online.

A Laser 13 or 16 would be ideal.
    O r a Laser Stratos. They do a version with a keel. http://sailingdinghies.apolloduck.ie/listings.phtml?cid=106&sti=34

Or a Topper Sport 16 as previously mentioned http://sailingdinghies.apolloduck.ie/feature.phtml?id=112768
