    Hi everyone

I am surprising my better half by proposing to her this December and then taking her off for 5 or so days to New York to pick out the ring.
My budget is around 3k euro.
I am looking for some advice on where the best places to shop for engagement rings in New York are.
I have heard that Hanikens are meant to be very good.
Any info or advice would be really welcomed

    Thanks

We got ours in Hanikens last year and couldn't recommend them enough. Do a search on these forums for them you'll see alot of positive feedback. There's also salvatores who are meant to be good also and in same building.

Best of luck - great decision with NY btw!

That depends on your interpretation of "wrong". You will pay a 75% markup in Tiffany's versus what you will pay for an equal ring in a normal shop.

OP, you want to go to the Diamond District on 47th street.

We got ours in Hanikens and they're fantastic. They're working on my wedding ring at the minute! :)

We got mine in Salvatore & Co. and they were absolutely fantastic. Have also heard good things about Haniken. My advice would be to go to both and then make a decision.

Go into Tiffany's for the experience, then laugh at the prices and go around to the Diamond District.

That's exactly what we did so helped in GF deciding what type of ring she wanted. Ring in Hanikens as about 40% chepear than Tiffany so EXACT same ring.

We got one in Hanikens last year too. They were fantastic in every way. They took time to show all styles, settings and diamonds and explained in detail. They made my OH feel like the only person in the world for that hour or so.

We got a great deal. We had the ring valued back in Ireland and it was worth 2.5 times what we paid for it.

We went to Tiffany's too and whilst they were very good, (much nicer than I thought they would be), you are paying for the name as we got nearly twice the carrat in Hanikens with a very good stone for the same price.

Since we went last year, a friend of mine got theirs in Hanikens also and were very happy also.

That’s great guys. Thanks a mil. Hanikens sounds a great spot as does Salvatore & Co .
I will defo head to these two and have a look in the Diamond districk.

    Hi,

    Congrats! Very exciting times!

Just something to be mindful of - make sure the diamond has not been 'clarity enhanced'.....this is apparently something that is commonly done to rings now.

    Good luck!
