If the Irish government had filled all the empty NAMA buildings and ghost estates up with all the scrappage deal cars they scrapped,we could have our own multiple barn finds in 20 years time:D,,,probable make more money too!

Found this article last night - a 300SL found in Greece and been sold for €400k

    http://www.benzinsider.com/2011/10/barn-find-300sl-sells-for-405000-euros/

That would be my dream, finding the likes of a 300SL stored away and abandoned

Annoys me thinking back to the mk1 Cortina and mk1 Escort my grandad left in a field to rot

I wonder what he paid for them. Doesn't matter as they seem from the article to have gone to a good home which is better then some gouger getting them.

Thanks for the link carcheologist, I'll have a better read of it this evening.

what a find although i might be able to show you all something on par with that,i moved to new zealand last year and got friendly with a few car enthusiasts here who told me about a barn in christchurch with lots of motors new and old.
an elderly asian gentleman was set on setting up a musuem for young asian kids to come and see old cars, furniture etc and built huge barns to store everything in,and i mean huge possibly 100mtr by 50mtr.
he passed away before being able to do anything with them and his son has no intrest and they were all put up for sale by word of mouth,we heard when about 100 cars had been sold and went to see what was left.
we thought on the way down there will only be rubbish left so this is what greeted us!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 135 ✭✭2.8trooper

ye its huge and there were also another 100mtr by 30mtr open span sheds outside that had already been cleared,we heard from an old guy who bought an elan off him.
we already got a price/offered for the 280sl 15k was offered but no joy a counter offer has been sent and we will wait and see what happens.
the skyline can be bought for 20k dollars around 11 euro its quite straight and all there pity its 4 door though.
will post up some more pics later.

so far we have only done a deal on the honda 50,alfa sud which is quite literally one of the only rust free examples i have seen and one bug eye starlet.
its quite a lengthy procedure to make an offer and wait for response as the son has left it in the hands of a family friend all a bit complicated.
we are planning another trip down soon and will get to spend more time as i dont see pics of half of what was there, there is a 911 which was driven into a lake and various other modren stuff i didnt photo.
hop you enjoyed the pics i know i love lookin at this sort of stuff...
