I was in Ikea this morning having a browse around at the bedroom furniture and more importantly the wardrobes and presses.

Has anyone bought any of ther wardrobes and what do they think of them with regards build quality and use?

They have some very good deals on at the moment,so Im half thinking of buying some bedroom wardrobes and presses off them.

    Thanks.:)

I have bought two of their PAX wardrobes, with the aluminum and glass doors. I cut it down at the back and installed it in two alcoves in a living room. It is fine.

I got 5 wardrobes from the PAX range and they are excellent quality plus a joy to put together - including a corner unit which has an enormous amount of space in it. Got 3 MALM chest of drawers and they are excellent as well.

Bought 2 Ikea bedside lockers today for 25 euro each.

Piece of pi55 to put together and very sturdy too.

Im going back for alot more Ikea wardrobes at some stage next week so.

We also had a meal up there and used the Ikea customer card.

Spent 16 euro on food (2 meals,2 teas and 2 deserts) ,and we got 16 euro back on the card to be used on anything we buy the next time.

    Sweet Deal.:D

how do you get the loyalty card!. might look at shopping up there soon for the wardrobes and stuff

There is no question that Ikea are cheap and not too difficult to assemble.Quality is another matter.Cheap hinges give trouble with time, replace them with new ones. The problem is the screws usually pull out of the chipboard/ MDF leaving too big a hole. The same problem has presented on drawer runners etc. As usual it depends on the use and abuse an item will be given. One persons use can be described as abuse by the supplier. For the price they charge you get what you pay for, no more no less.Buy with your eyes open and never regret it.

Hey people,it's particle board so you get what you pay for i'm afraid! But I know people who have always used Ikea for years and had no complaints. What i want to know has anybody been to Ikea in Dublin recently? I'm planning a visit soon from the West of Ireland, but by the sounds of some blogs(another site, mainly UK) on other stores it seems I need to take some valium and a bodybuilder with a compass to the store!!!! how was your "experience"? Customer Service seems to be an issue is this something I should be aware of? Should I bother?

There is customer service, in the sense of dealing with your questions. I think they are friendly enough. The staff are not sales people and don't have a lot of time to spend with you. Try not to land in to buy a kitchen on a weekend afternoon. You need to be able to lift, or at the very least push on a trolley anything you want to buy. You will make life a lot easier for yourself if you have researched everything on the website beforehand.

Sweetleaff- yes do bother but go at the right time. Saturday or Sunday wouldn't be the right time. If you can go Mon-Thu , ideally when they open and you should have a couple of hours relative calm.

In terms of the quality : If you intend to just put up the wardrobes and leave them where they are , they are perfectly fine. If you intend to modify them ( I mean shorten them or so) , think twice, the material is not made for screwing screws into. You may be better off to get some a wardrobe maker to make you a custom wardrobe. I just found out you wouldn't be paying a lot more than Ikea. I did modify them and it worked but it is not perfect.

Ive got some billy bookcases (and a klippan sofa, malm chest of drawers and jonas desk) and theyve lasted me for 2 years, not a problem.
