I am looking to sell my car, this is not a sales thread. I have a Chevrolet Aveo, and I want to sell it myself in order to buy a car with a slighter bigger engine. Whats the market for such cars, and how do I know I am getting a good deal?

Any ideas lads would be greatly appreciated. Its Chev Aveo 07.

I imagine Aveos are slightly harder to sell as the market like puntos is flooded with Chevrolets.

I don't think the market is flooded as few people bought them new. Here's a 2008 offered at €4K, so maybe ask for €3.5K, and see what you're offered?

I was also thinking, maybe this sounds completely nuts but I have never asked a dealership this before but do dealers do straight swaps?

Take it a few and see what they say when they see the car.
If you can get more dosh privately (probably) then sell privately.

They will, but only if it suits them, on there terms as such.

I done a straight swap a few years ago, IIRC 2004. I swapped my 1.4 Honda Civic Type S (2002 model with factory Type R kit) for a Honda Integra Type R. The reason the garage done it was because when i pulled up the guy from the shop next door asked the owner if he could get him one of my cars.

Is that a done thing, or would they laugh in my face?

They weren't even willing to look at a Chevy Aveo 2007 and offer you a price?
They probably don't think they can move it.
Just keep trying, you might get lucky.

Ring back to the same dealer and say you're emigrating next week and can they take a 2010 IS250 Lexus off your hands for 10K?
When they start drooling down the phone you yell "THIS TIME I WAS ACTUALLY JOKING" and slam phone down :D

Not even willing to look at it, and the next one I rang gave me a ridiculous price for it.

Not wishing to go off topic but does anyone else think that Chevrolet bears a scary resemblance to the Nissan Tiida ?

    That isnt a complement!

The Chevrolet is a nicer looking car IMO.

The Tiida reminds me of a Skoda Fabia Saloon, which i also think fell off the ugly tree.

A friend of mine was trying to sell a 05 Kalos hatch, absolutely everything going for it and it was priced around 2k, a bit less even. Not a single call about it.

There's alot more car you could buy for that money, numberplate irrelevant.
