    Hi!
I'm hoping to go interrailing around Europe next Summer and I'm looking for some advice. We are just beginning to plan the trip now but it would be great if we could get some advice on the best places to go, the best way to go about planning it, things to do, places to stay, etc.
    Thanks :)

Maybe the absence of replies to you post is because your question is just too broad. The world is your lobster, well Europe and Morocco anyway, and only you can know what your own interests and priorities are; which cities, which countries, mountains or beach, focus on one country or region, or cover east and west. Once you have a few priorities a general route may become apparant to avoid back tracking - maybe a circuit clockwise or anti-clock.

    A few random thoughts
I assume your passport and driving licence will be valid
Take a photocopy of your docs with you and keep a digital copy on your email
    Get your E111 card
Keep tetanus and hep c jabs up to date. (Not essential)
Be aware some trains will charge a supplement.
Don't get caught out by Sunday timetables.

Consider camping. Spanish\French camp sites are great and very economical. Join the Youth Hostel Assoc.
Travel light. (No, lighter!) If you decide you really need a second pair of shoes you can buy them en route.
Learn at least few phrases in each langauge.

Venues - entirely subjective. The museums and bars in Madrid, west cost of portugal for beaches, I loved Oporto, Lisbon, Cadiz, Pyrennees or alps for hiking. Milan, Florence for museums. Monaco? - don't bother I say.

Hey, it really depends on what you want to see and how much you plan to spend! Are you looking for culture/outdoor activities/sea & sun??

Another thing to take into account is the cost. More western European countries like France, Spain, Germany etc will be more expensive, same goes for Scandanavia, that said they are still amazing countries with plenty to see and do! The further east you go the cheaper it gets.

Personally I would recommend Germany, Poland, Slovenia definitely Croatia too. Also, any of the Balkan countries especially Bosnia or Bulgaria!

Also as mentioned above- pack light!!! Lay out everything you plan to bring and then half it, you end up wearing the same things over and over anyway!

The world is your lobster, well Europe and Morocco anyway

As far as I know Morocco is no longer included in the countries you can use the interrail pass in!

Okay. My experience of inter-railing is from the day when crossing the Spanish frontier entailed Guardia Civil prowling the train corridors and waking passengers to check passports. Like a scene from an Alan Furst espionage story.
BTW OP, Don't mess with the Guardia Civil - or any other local cops for that matter.

Pity Morocco is no longer included. Great destination. Probably worth heading across the straits anyway if you're in Sth Spain.

Hi folks, i also have a query on inter railing. I cant get my head round the prices. I was looking at a website and it said you could buy a ticket for travel for 5 days within 10 days?? Also is 10 days far too short?? I dont plan on doing that much, just seeing maybe one or two major cities as i dont have that long a summer break!

What the 5 days travel in 10 means is that you have 5 travel days within the 10 period from the activation date of your ticket i.e you can use your ticket on any 5 days within that 10 day period. Also if you are going to only one or two cities it could very well be cheaper to just buy the tickets seperately instead of buying the pass. Check the national train websites of what countries you intend on visiting to get an idea on prices.

Hi guys... Just wondering if anyone could help me please... I'm 20 year old girl and planning on going interrailing next summer with a few friends. The main countries we are interested in are Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. We would also like to end up on the Greek islands at the end for a 5 or 6 day holiday on Crete or Ios maybe. Does anyone know any good route to incorporate all these?? We would be happy to travel by ferry too, or anything else for that matter! I'd really appreciate any advice!
