Hi im looking to cancel my sky subscription and want to get a good freesat box that will have the same features as sky , like recording and pausing live tv and looking at tv listings a couple of days ahead, is this possible and will i be able to get the irish channels on the same box without needing 2. also will i be able to use the existing sky dish on the side of the house or do i need a new one. i appreciate any help and thanks in advance

Ive changed over to free sat and have the recordable box.

I got the whole lot supplied and installed by a company called borcom.

I found it on www.borcom.info and I like it.

I dont have the RTE channels yet though they wont be available until April.

If you check it there is a price list and to be honest I am 100% happy.

Best bit they came out two days after I rang too

You can just buy a Freesat recorder - heres the range:
    http://freesat.co.uk/products/freesat-box-range

Then just plug it into your cables coming from your dish and you're off.

I did the same and bought a Humax Foxsat - happy with it but the software isn't as slick and user friendly as Sky's. Sky excel at that.

Irish channels probably will never be on Freesat, its a UK service. You will have to buy a separate Saorview box or compatible TV for those. Thats how I get my Irish channels, through a Sony TV.
