    Hi all,

What kinds of societies/activities/nights out/stuff/anything that doesn't involve cheap shots of Jager is there to do for students over 26 at NUIG? I'll be starting there soon and am looking forward to joining a couple of societies and the like.

    Have a look here: http://socs.nuigalway.ie/society_profiles/search/ .
(I've no idea why they've split them up into stupid alphabetized lists instead of having them all on the one page.)
If you see any societies you like the look of, you can confirm with us here that they don't revolve around cheap shots of Jager :p You should be fairly okay on that score though, provided you avoid the Accountancy and Finance society.

What course are you starting and what premise of a society would you be looking for?

I'm about to start a PhD and I suppose a society that has things like interesting talks, pub quizzes and the like would be appealing.

You should join the Chess society then. They don't do interesting talks or pub quizzes, but if they did they would probably be the best interesting talks or pub quizzes in the world.

You can generally spot them because they look older...

You'd be surprised, some look about 15... But there are only a few hundred of us, admits the thousands of school leavers-
