    HI,

I am currently looking to do an internship via Job Bridge. Because of this I will have to find accommodation that will accept rent allowance in Dublin.

Has anyone any experience in applying for and recieving rent allowance while doing an internship via Job Bridge.

Would the extra fifty euro I receive have an adverse effect on a rent allowance application? If I am on an internship how does the rent officer view where I am living if I am at work? Cant the process be hurried up for someone who is doing an internship??

    THanks in advance,

    frAg

I'd like to know about that too.

But I do know if you are applying for a FAS course that is away from home, you would get a digs (accommodation) allowance added to you unemployment allowance for the duration of the course, so I'm wondering if the National Internship Scheme offers the same.

Its a novel situationa nd you would need to talk to the community welfare officer where you intend living.

RA tends not to be paid to people unless they have already been renting for 6 months.

JobBridge offers only the same rate of SW payment as you are presently receiving, plus Euro 50 for the duration of the internship, be it the six month or the maximum nine month option. http://jobbridge.ie/Intern.aspx

If you were already in receipt of Rent Supplement you can retain it while on JobBridge but to commence receiving Rent Supplement you have to qualify in the usual way i.e., be renting already for six months having been able to afford the rent when the tenancy started and having since suffered a change of circumstance (loss of earnings) since commencing OR be approved by a Local Authority as being in need of social housing. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/supplementary_welfare_schemes/rent_supplement.html
