The built-in booster only of use if you have a long cable.
There is very little difference between a €50 and a €6 aerial if it's the yagi type. The "rabbits ears" with hoop are worst. They are really better for VHF & DAB.

You likely need at least a good aerial in the attic. Or a large out-door aerial on top of cupboard facing a window facing transmitter.

You could try a grid aerial indoors.

    Indoor at bottom.

A "booster" equally amplifies noise and interference. If the window in the room faces a transmitter and there is little local interference a booster may help a little. Different placement can help more. So get a satellite grade extension cable and a good quality mast head amp between a cheap un-boosted aerial like at bottom of page as the built in "boosters" usually very poor. Then later you can "recyle" the mast head amp to the attic (you can try the set-top indoor aerial there too) or outdoors.

"boosted" indoor aerials are a waste of money.
