How To Get Started With Drawing/Coloured Pencils?

    Hi all,

    I haven't taken an art class since I was a small child....but I'd like to learn. My problem is that I'm completely overwhelmed and don't know how to begin.

    Can someone help get me started. Is there a website that provides a good foundation or some entry-level books I could start with?

    Just take a pencil and sketchpad and practice a little on some still life - there are lots of tutorials on youtube that you can watch with great advice. There might be classes in your area - evening classes in either drawing or painting, that you might enjoy.

    Mainly - just have fun :)

    Treat yourself to some conte pencils - they are expensive but they are so gorgeous to use. Even if you just get five or six to start, and let it be known that you would like more for Christmas!

    You can achieve fantastic results using coloured pencils for subjects like wildlife, portraits, pets. Check out Youtube for some wonderful tips and advice from professional artists. Art is a hobby for any age group and lasts a life time. You can never feel lonely when you are absorbed in this great hobby. Enjoy!
