chris pine and tom hardy are both spys that end up dating the same girl (reese witherspoon) and decied that theyll both date her, and may the best man win:D,

while i wasnt that impressed with terminator salvation (it was ok), i think McG has picked a film more suited to what hes good at,

Could be fun could be complete toss. Will give it a chance because of Pine and Hardy and in fairness Bale was a bigger factor in T:S's failure than McG imo.

McG is a fairly competent director, he will never be amongst the greats but he knows how to shoot action, comedy and drama which is something a lot of directors can't.

Terminator Salvation failed because of Bale. He was cast in a relatively small role which in the original script was more cameo than anything else. Bale had the script rewritten to turn him into the star and the film suffered as a result.

This Means War looks like a decent brain dead film with two great leads. Nice to see Hardy having a bit of fun.

The original script for TS had fans in a rage anyway. The only problem with the rewrite was that it tried to make something good out of a **** script instead of starting from scratch with blank paper.

The original script was far superior to what we got in the end, it was the ending which pissed fans off the whole put John Connor's skin over Marcus which must be one of the most ridiculous concepts ever imagined.

yeah looks kinda like itll be along those lines, mr and mrs smith was one of only a handfull of action romcoms that worked well, been a lot of train wrecks in the action romcom genre:o,

It's meant to be dire. 33 percent on RT.

Fcuking McG, gets to work with reasonable talent on a consistent enough basis and produces mediocre to shit.

Looks absolutely terrible, thought it's be a while yet before Tom Hardy started taking roles like this.

give tom a break for this **** his next few films are the new batman, mad max, a film about bootlegging and supposedly a trilogy about AL Capone. johnathan ross asked him the other night why he starred in this film and he said because he never done one before and wanted a change from serious roles.

Kind of like the trailer but the reviews are putting me off :(

I actually think that this could be quite good, from the reviews on metacritic and RT it seems that most critics are complaining that the film is mean spirited and panders not to the traditional rom-com audience but rather those pop saps they drag along.

It looks ****e. More of this unconventional situations and premises, typical of this genre in recent years, and I supposed they expect that alone to carry the ****ing thing.

Why oh why must Hollywood try and commit suicide? I suppose it'll gross quite a bit. It appeals to that section of society. I don't see it working a-tall a-tall. Think everything but the basic premise is flawed.

Seen this the other night and it was ok overall, Hardy and Pine work very well together and have great chemistry sometimes it did look like Hardy was out his depth in the comedy scenes but he did pull it off ok and Pine played FDR as Captain Kirk the spy :p but the weak link was Reese Witherspoon I thought she had zero chemistry with Hardy and Pine and again more stupid drinking Chelsea Handler jokes

The only reason i will watch this is to see Tom Hardy. "calm down doctor, now's not the time for fear, that comes later"

I saw this tonight. Generally enjoyable (didn't expect much anyway). I found the subplot totally unnecessary, it didn't quite connected with the main film. Happy end and all, and all three actors in decent performances. A relaxed two-hours.

    ^ Agreed.

Overall it was standard boy(s) meet, woo and get girl story. Sub-plot was shoved into different places along the way to remind us of their jobs... or something. Totally unnecessary. Jokes were telegraphed but some genuinely funny moments. Ending felt ...meh. Didn't really care which one she picked, if any.

Pine is Kirk now. That's how he played this role anyway, though I don't suppose he could have played it any other way really. Chelsea was not as annoying as I thought she was going to be, but Witherspoon was phoning it in. Zero chemistry doesn't even cover it.

Finally got around to see this turd of a movie after being tricked. I was told it was good by a normally reliable source, though it was probably pay back for tricking him into watching Valhalla rising a while ago. If it was meant to be an action movie it sucked, if it was meant to be a comedy it wasn't funny and if it was meant to be a chick flick it failed at that too. The cast are normally good, big fan of Hardy's previous work but this was easily the worst film I seen this year. The action was toned down for universal rating, I seen more violence on an episode of Friends. The jokes were such a cliche and the adult theme of the movie was ridiculous for a movie with a 12 rating.
Within 5 minutes of the start we know who she will choose when we meet Hardys ex wife and child. The whole film was set up for the finale where they play "here boy" with Reece.
But by far the 2 worst parts were
when Hardy went to be with her even though he knew Pine was and was willing to stir his porriage and when Witherspoon finds out they are CIA agents and flips out like they were worst people ever even though SHE was the one 2 timing them all along. I was praying for a twist in the end where she died and they married each other, but alas it was the usual colour by numbers garbage.

Watched this recently. Totally agree with FrostyJack points above.

    1,
When Hardy went over to Weitherspoons house after he knew Pine done the deed with her was ... stupid. If anything that should of created the rift between the two at that point. Was silly with Hardy going over
    2,
Also as FrostyJack said when Weitherspoon's character's reaction found out they knew each other was so stupid. She was the bad guy in the whole situation by not telling each she was dating another
    3,
Weitherpoon's character is a bit*h the way when Hardy tries to have sex with her she says "I am not that type of girl" - Bit*h, you just shagged someone the night previous!
    :pac:

Embarrassing. Hardy should stay clear of comedies, looked uncomfortable. As someone else said Reece was just dialing it in and Chris Pine did his Kirk impression throughout the movie. Chelsea Handler was annoying as hell.
