Went down today and Rescued a dog from dying, I would just like to thank them for all the great work they do and are well under funded. If anyone is thinking about getting a dog I urge you to adopt, there is to many dogs down there that are not going to find a home and wont be as lucky as mine.

Looking to rescue a dog meself. There only a couple dogs on their site. There one little small black fella that walks on his knuckles or something like that. Would love to get him but I'd say his vet bills to fix the legs would be way to much for me to afford. Hopefully someone takes him.

I was down there a few times looking at all of the dogs, I first went down thinking I wanted a Staffie but ended up with a really nervous little setter.
When I got a dog before I would always buy but never again, any dog I get from now on will be rescued... They are so grateful :D

that's it yeah. I'd rather rescue one because as you said, they're grateful. Setters are lovely dogs. Hopefully he/she will come out of its shell now that it has a loving home. Loyalty of dogs is unbelievable.

Good man Dave. Those poor animals livin in a cage all day it's just heartbreaking looking at em. I'm not a dog person but have had cats my entire life and every one was a rescue. Where I live there are different kinds of pounds, some who let em live for about 3 months or so before they are put down and others supported by the state who just put em down based on age and how many tenants they have. I don't even like thinking about them poor little fookers.

Good for you and I'd gladly help ya if ya took the knuckle walker

to be honest man I have no idea. Check out Waterford spca and he a little black fella standing in front of a bench. Charlie is his name. I'm on disability so money isn't great. Don't get me wrong. I'm happy I do get money. This dog can't go for long walks and what with me being fooked with agoraphobia, he would be great for me to get me out and about etc.

    Just checked waterfordspca
And Charlie isn't on it. :( I really hope he was rehomed.

When I was in there Saturday there was no fella like you described. So hopefully he has found a good home and was not put down. :(

Unfortunately they don't have to live in those cages for long, they put the dogs down in a few days.

But I'm with you on dog rescue places. If you look around the internet, for example irishanimals.ie its shocking how many dogs there are in the country, abandoned, looking for homes.

Many of the sanctuaries don't put dogs down. They're often run by altruistic people who rely on donations.

Then you look at for example donedeal.ie and see just how many puppies are available for sale. Literally thousands, all the time. Its no wonder that Ireland is called the puppy farm of Europe.

Its actually shocking. I got my fella from a sanctuary a few months ago. He's utterly superb, I can't understand why someone didn't want him.

    A.

I'd love to take one home. There's a couple of Alsatian pups on the site that are as cute as hell.

Just after reading that whole site. That lady is some legend. The way she describes the residents is funny.

Just for people wondering, the waterford spca is different to the dog pound, the spca dont put the dogs down nor have a kennels, they keep them in foster homes until theyre rehomed :)

Both our dogs are rescue dogs, Jessie was from the dog pound in Bilberry and Misti from a separate group again, in one of the newspapers they have an advert for rehoming dogs each week and we just rang them up!
Both are the loyalist, friendliest creatures to be found. Really recommend rescue dogs!

To right. Fair play to her. I'd love to be able to do something like she is doing, maybe someday. Its class the way the dogs have their own mannerisms, the bossy one who the rest dont listen to, the other one who likes jumping up and bumping noses with people then doing a legger haha. I'd love to call out top her sometime.

Andrew, Isobelle and all the team in http://waterfordanimalwelfare.com/ also do great work in the South East. They don't put down animals, and are always looking for suitable homes.

Fair play to OP for getting a rescue. I have 2 cats and our previous have always come from the street or rescues.
One thing I have noticed is people who get rescues seem to care alot more about their animals. Where Im living I'm disgusted with the way people treat their "pets". Dogs are allowed to roam free and are not neutured or spayed. There's one near by and its locked up in the house all day and barks and doesn't get taken out for walks. Then there are the others who treat their animals like a member of the family which should be the case.
