Teeth Whitening in Galway?

    Hey folks,

a few quick questions about this..

Where is the best place in Galway to get this done ?
    Is it expensive?
Does it actually work on the first visit?
Should I go and get a dentist cleaning again before the whitening ?
Will I look like I have glow in the dark super fake white teeth after? :(

Teeth are clean but just not as white as they used to be, can't brush back the old shiney white from when I was a kid.

Any thoughts, opinions or experiences outside the answers to the above?

    Thanks ! :)

    teeth whitening varies in price...

you'll see the tooth whitening clinics/some beauticians and stuff offer 'lazer whitening' for maybe €99- somethimes its good, but the trouble is its one session and thats kinda it, sometimes they offer a half price session a few months later. but its expensive when you work out that you'd like a couple of sessions to get the desired shade of whitening.

The dentists in the city generally offer a take home kit for €295 - with that you get your tooth whitening trays, whitening gel and you do it at night every night for maybe 10 days; the result is usually far better and you have the system for life so you can buy the gel and top up whenever you want to over the years.

I used to work in a dental surgery; i'm not biased cause i like a bargain, i do! but in my experience people usually are a little let down by the one off instant whitening...

That said, everyone is different; you might get a magic result after one session of 'lazer'.

And i'd deffo reccomend a cleaning before hand.

I can recommend a good dentist; i believe they're offering a cleaning with the whitening, they were last month anyways.

PM me if you'd like details

Are the kits you get in boots any good?

i've never seen any decent results from them TBH. however, the crest whiteneing strips, available online, have had great results! had quite a few patients who have used them, usually pick them up in the states, they're really popular over there; the only problem i've seen with them is that people who have used them for a while tend to get gum recession and suffer quite bad sensitivity because their gums are being exposed to the whitening gel constantly; that wouldn't happen if you had the custom made kit! But, if you're careful and put vaseline around the gums first it should be ok, and obviously just keep an eye on it.

You really need a whiteing gel that is about 10% - 15% to get an impressive result.

Be careful if you have sensitive teeth as the treatment can be incredibly painful.

very true; if you get a 'sensodyne pro-relief' or 'colgate pro-relief' and just rub it onto your teeth and leave it a few mins, that does a good job of desensityzing things!
