I have an upcoming essay due in 13 days on Machiavelli's the Prince, I have read the book but don't know what to write about, if anyone has done this last year or before then, can you give me some ideas on what direction to go for.

I have an upcoming essay due in 13 days on Machiavelli's the Prince, I have read the book but don't know what to write about, if anyone has done this last year or before then, can you give me some ideas on what direction to go for.

If David Lederer has left the same instructions as he normally does in regards to this assignment, you are being asked to come up with your own title and discuss the importance and relevance of The Prince in 1,500 words.

Pick a particular area of the book and focus on that. Funny enough I can't remember what I wrote about, but I think I concentrated on the ambiguity of city state authority, and how quickly territories and principalities changed hands so often - what sort of an impact this would have on understanding this period in history. Therefore, Machiavelli's book is not only a treatise on politics, philosophy and strategy, but also a valuable account of the frivolity of state leaders during those times. Something like that anyway. :P

Remember, David Lederer is a cultural historian, so if you can somehow relate to your argument, bonus points ensue :)

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info, he has left it to the tutors to explain what we are to do, to me it seems to be the idiots guide on how to be a real basterd while ruling successfully.
