Anyone know if there is a listing and comparison of various brands / models / prices of saorview boxes?

I have a combo box but wish to get a couple of saorview boxes for myself and my parents.

I would be interested in such a list too.

Surely somebody has put together a list of all the saorview approved set top boxes along with a feature comparison? Guideline prices would be good too, but the feature comparison would be a start...

Apart from a couple of approved combos, they're practically all the same thing, nothing to compare between them.

They are all similar. There is a very short term market for these. When that is tailing off (next year), then almost the only new set boxes will be upmarket dual tuner PVRs, maybe even some with Blu Ray, most with extensive media support and networking.

These are purely to convert old TVs. Not to give loads of fancy features. They are thus built down to a price.

Fair enough - thanks for the replies folks.

I had expected that there must be a comparison somewhere of the full range of approved boxes starting from bog standard approved MPEG4 decoders to dual tuner PVRs... I just thought that it'd be something the saorview folks would have done as part of simplifying the switchover process...

I'm asking for a friend who has a relatively new TV, but the built-in digital tuner was designed for Freeview in the UK so it's only MPEG2, and doesn't do MPEG4... I was hoping to just find a simple list of approved set top boxes where we could wight up price versus features like PVR, dual tuner, etc...

    Thanks anyways!
