C2 question

A little help please if ye can.

We are a small company and have recently been awarded a decent contract with a county council. This is our first time doing work for a government body.

They have requested the following documentation.

Tax clearance Cert ... no prob
    Safety Statement.... no prob
Safety records and training... no prob
    Bank details... given
    C2 ???

Now as we rarely ever do work for a principal contractor we have never seen the need to be C2 registered. On the rare occasion we have done work for a sub contractor we have had 35% RCT deducted and issued a pink slip for which we claimed tax credit.

I am wondering why they have requested a C2 and don't know whether to tell them i don't have one or go look for one quickly?

    any help appreciated.

You will be effectively be a sub-contractor for them and they don't want the hassle of the RCTDC's.

You will need to submit a copy of the contract with the application.

You can commence the work without the C2 (some Co Co's will allow this), but you will need it to get paid, you could of course thell them that you are applying for it.

Depends on the district you're applying to, I've seen them take a month and I've seen one come back in a week.
