Dish elevation???

Ok, possibly a stupid question for some,(Ronnie Raygun?????) but I have a Triax 1.1m dish that I want to line up for 26E, so, according to the instructions and Dishpointer who recommend 22.6degrees for where I am situated, I assemble the dish and I set it for this elevation according to the directions.

So, with it on the floor I get a spirit-level and make sure the mast mounting bracket is up-right, I then get a straight edge from top to bottom of dish and discover that the dish is actually pointing downwards. Is this correct?

I am not looking for smart ass answers the like of which can appear on this forum, but genuine information and help.

    Thanks a mil, :D

    TC.

It's an offset dish, so only appears to point downwards.

Even when using dishpointer as a guide, the dish will only be pointing in the general direction of the satellite. You will still need to adjust the azimuth and elevation slightly (using the receiver signal meter, or an inline meter) to correctly align the dish.

    Thanks for that Apogee.

It does not only "appear" to point downwards, but physically does. As I said a straight edge from top edge of dish to bottom edge, with mounting bracket up-right, and a spirit level on it, the dish actually points downwards.

Not saying that this is wrong, but just checking to see if it is ok?

maybe I am missing something in the assembly, but I do not see how.

The Triax TD110 offset is 26 degrees, which afaik leaves the dish 3.4 degrees off vertical when used with that elevation ie it's already elevated by 26 degrees when your straight edge is at 90 deg. to horizontal.

OOps Peter, I see where yo are coming from. Sorry about the double post but screwed up a bit while trying to insert diagram.

So, what you are saying is that as far as you know, it is normal?
