How much is petrol/diesel in your locality?

In North Cork presently 148.9/149.9 seems the norm but I saw 146.9 in Cork City (South Link)

Sorry Guys, no such thing as cheap fuel. You get what you pay for and dirt cheap fuels are essentially that, dirt. They more often than not do not have essential additives that are required for the fuel to do it's job properly.
50 litres at a difference of 5 cent a litre is €2.50, compare that to 500 to 1000 to get new fuel injectors etc fitted due to dodgy fuel, not worth the risk IMHO.

not worth the risk driving a diesel at all then in that case! How can you tell that full price diesel isnt rubbish too?

or maybe there selling there petrol at a lower profit margin to get people in to the shop for a nice bottle of overprced coke and sandwich, also agree with the poster above.

    lol, I love this forum

So derv is being sold at a lower profit margin. This bearing in mind that the profit margin on is about 2%

    your buying washed diesel simple

Any reason to be concerned about petrol? I have been buying mine in a large Texaco garage in Midlands town at 145.9 while driving to Dublin. Happy to pay more if there is a chance petrol might be dodgy.

The station at the bottom of Forge Hill is also €146.9, added bonus there's rarely a queue like what would be at the South Link station :)

    Can someone please explain:-

Got peteol in Topaz in Galway Friday morning at €154.9, in Tralee on Thursday it was €146.9.

Why would Topaz have such a variance in price in two locations?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭boxermad

petrol 142.8 diesel 137.8 maxol garage in tralee

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,306 ✭✭✭blahblah06

    Diesel €1.249

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,800 ✭✭✭The Guvnor

What I fail to understand is that if derv is taken and tested and comes back as fine/good etc. is it?

I have heard of dodgy stations having fuel taken away and tested and the tests coming back as acceptable/good/etc.

I'm on the motorways a lot so use on of the new service stations there.

IIRC the ones on the m1 north are just under the 1.40 mark for diesel iirc.

Got it for 1.39 in EMO in Limerick Citaay

Texaco, in either Raheny or Portmarknock. 1.49~ a litre.

Doesn't bother me, and if I was driving a diesel, probably go there as well. I don't want to risk getting dodgy fuel from one of those "only sell diesel for 1.35 a litre" places. As people have said, it's only a few euro at the end of the year, relative to the price of fixing something gone horribly wrong with your engine.
