    Hey guys,

I'm about to do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on my computer. I'm just worried that my iPhone wont sync when I reinstall iTunes on the new OS.

Does anyone know if I can copy the user data from my current ITunes and just replace it in the new OS?

Or what I will have to do to get my Iphone 4 to sync with a new OS and iTunes without losing all the data on it.

    Cheers

Just copy your iTunes folder from C:\Users\yourname\My Music

This is what contains all of your library etc... when you reinstall windows, and reinstall iTunes, just copy the iTunes folder back into the same location (it will tell you you are overwriting the iTunes folder but that's ok.

then you start iTunes and all your data will be there - then just sync your phone as normal.

With trying to get the Ios 5 beta on my iphone I have been doing this. I had to open a new user account on windows and copy my iTunes folder over. "Vista Problem" Anyways
Now that the Public iTunes release is out. I copied it back to my main user account. But My play lists have now dissapeared. Anyone know, how I get them back?

You can export and import playlists under File > Library.

Thanks but where would I import them from? I thought they where in my itunes folder. The seem to have disappeared when I copied them over.

Sorry, I was working under the assumption that they were still in the other user account. If they're not, they'll need to be recreated.

I had to do the same thing earlier this week. Instead of a clean install my be worth doing a repair install (depending on the issue)> I had to do a repair install cause C++ update wouldn't install meaning I couldn't get iTunes 10.5.
Clean clears the HDD where repair maintains the previous files and overwrites all the windows files to give a fresh version of them

Thanks Aidan. They might be. Where would I find them?
I done some research on it. Found I can use the iTunes library XML file to do it. The thing is I don't know how long there missing. So I don't wanna rebuild my library to to an older set up.
But if the playlists are in another file. I could add them easily.
