Tonight, Mike interviews broadcaster, Marian Finucane. I'm looking forward to this as Marian rarely gives interviews anymore.

I hope she explains why she takes so much time out, personal reasons or what ever

Marian glossed over her massive salary very nicely there

She is 60, going on 61 so I suppose it is a form of early retirement :D

She is quite sensitive despite her school teacher image.

I will never forget the Nuala O'Faolain interview, it was an incredibly powerful and deeply moving interview and highlighted the distress and suffering experienced by people with a terminal illness and their loved ones.

I know it has been mentioned alot this month but I'd love Mike Murphy to replace Tubridy next September on the Late Late.

I completely agree, Mike has a really nice relaxed interview technique that is in no way awkward.

It is a shame that the interview was so short, Mike's programme would be better if it was 45minutes long, 30 minutes is not long enough.

In 2009, it was reported that Marian earned €570,000 in 2008 for her presenting her Saturday and Sunday morning radio programmes - that equates to an astonishing €50 per minute  It is very nice work if you can get it!

    http://www.herald.ie/opinion/is-marian-finucane-worth-her-near-euro50-per-minute-yes-1912870.html

The Herald article in 2009 was written by a Claire Byrne, I presume that is couldn't possibly be the same Claire Byrne who sits in for Marian now. It is obviously a coincidence :)

Agree about the atrocious editing. Wonder if someone just messed up or were they forced into last minute changes? Either way, it really detracted from the programme.

Just watched on the RTE Player. +1 on the editing. It didn't help either with the moving camera positions that seemed to emphasis it more. Must have been a long auld day as it got noticeably darker at the end.

Regarding the bit about her salary, I think she had probably waffled on a bit about how the show is put together in the days before and ended it with the piece that went on air ('I don't think a Sunday paper is a one day a week job'). I don't think she would be too fussed about a large paycut at this stage of her career/life. Interesting interview all the same.

Murphy again impresses. Lets it flow and pause when necessary. Smooth and unruffled. Could you imagine Tubridy doing the same. I think not! I've no doubt the heads in Montrose will have to give serious consideration to Mike Murphy in the face of growing disillusionment amongst viewers (and the papers)with Tubridy.

    haha brilliant...

Waste of time of an interview... She gave out to Mike about politicians being media trained in how not to answer direct questions, and then gave a flawless demonstration of the art herself... Worse than talking to Tubridy... She's an aloof, arrogant, conceited woman..
