Punk,Triple H,Mason Ryan or David Otunga.

Considering how they stripped away most of the Michaels elements form last year, I can't see past them doing HHH/'Taker again with heavy Michaels involvement (and it's probably the best option at this stage without wasting a big return).

I'd love to see Sheamus get the nod he's been brilliant for a while now. Taker has wrestled practically everyone else & he may need a lot more help than usual and I feel Sheamo would be a ideal choice as a safe pair of hands. I suspect it'll be HHH, but I hope that Trips has more matches between now & then. His matches with Taker & Punk this year were street fights i'd rather see him in straight up wrestling matches.

I cant see a taker match this year, tbh.

If anyone, maybe punk or sheamo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,881 ✭✭✭Pentecost

They'd have to turn Sheamus or Taker though really wouldn't they? I mean Sheamus is over now pretty much as a face but is he over enough to be taking on Taker face v face? I don't think it'd work as yet. The match itself would be very good I'd say, mind you.

    Nobody.

    I think he's done.

Next time we'll see him will be for his Hall of Fame speech.

Maybe since Rock/Cena is on, there's no "need" for a Taker match this coming year - WWE will get their million buys with Rock's involvement. They should just save 20-0 for next year. TBH, I'd save it for WM30 since it's a huge number. (I'd book Cena vs Taker for 20-0)

Has to be Mark Henry, the way he is being built lately, he's looking like a credible threat to break the streak, noone else on the roster looks like a threat at the moment.

Didn't Henry face Taker at Mania a few years back?in a casket match or something gimmicky?

Wrestlemania 23! But it's the trend, HHH has faced him twice, HBK twice why not Henry!

think it might be now or never, hard to see Taker's body holding out for another 2 years

The next one will be the 20-0 wouldn't it? If that's the case, it'll probably be his last match so it's not going to be the likes of Goldberg or Lesnar as that would detract from the match (and I don't know if they'd come back to lose to Taker). I also doubt it'd be the likes of Sheamus. His last few matches have been HBK, HHH and Edge. Sheamus just isn't there yet, and while it'd be great for someone like Sheamus to get it, even losing, if it's his last match and the 20-0, it's got to be someone big. Money is on HHH again, though I'd fancy an outside bet on Kane given their history. What better way for Taker to leave? Would be a sh*t match, but better for the character

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,624 ✭✭✭Dancor

Sheamo to win the rumble and choose taker at mania instead of a title match.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,089 ✭✭✭✭rovert

If his shoulder and everything else is as bad of shape it was last Wrestlemania. There is no way Undertaker will wrestle someone he is not comfortable with/wrestled before/who may hurt him. This year Undertaker was going to wrestle Wade Barrett but that was nixed for the reasons previously stated. Undertaker couldn't do house shows to work out a match or establish chemistry as he was too injured.

I know it would not happen but would love Taker Vs Sting at Mania

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,911 ✭✭✭bradlente

Even though hes getting on now and has had his fair share of injuries,I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more Taker matches.I definitely expect him to go 20-0 either this year or next,Then possibly relinquish the streak to some young whippersnapper. That young whippersnapper being HHH of course:pac:

Honestly though without a doubt I expect at least 2 more mania matches from Undertaker,The mans a machine.

As for opponents,Cena or Jericho would both be excellent opponents for him to reach the 20.After that Sheamus or even the Miz depending on how they progress over the next few years would be great candidates imo to end the streak.

Sting would beat all of the above of course.

i said it before and i'll say it again, if a match with austin does'nt happen, it has to be CM Punk....or Big Daddy Cool Diesel :D

If Mark Henry ends the streak I will pull off my own left arm just to have something to beat myself around the head with.

It will happen, because he will be the finality of one last match. I've no idea who it will be - don't think HHH though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,984 ✭✭✭Degag

Most likely be HHH i think unless they get Lesner or Sting etc. With Cena out of the picture, there isn't anyone really on the roster i can see being his opponant.

Does anyone know if he's coming back for sure by the way? I've heard nothing about him since Mania.

You think Vince McMahon doesn't want his 20-0 match... That's a huge draw for the WWE. It will be Triple H and I think whoever it is this time is the one to break the streak.....

VKM and Taker feuded before....at a Survivor Series i think. Doubt it'd be much of a draw; Vince's feuds at Mania never do iirc.

It was Mania 22 in Chicago. I was there :)

I would be underwhelmed with Hunter or Henry again though I think both are good shouts.

I think CM Punk would be a good choice. He's a more believable contender to end it than the two men mentioned and it could be made to work in storyline terms since Punk has said that he wanted his match at Mania 28 to be the main event, and that he felt he belonged in a main event more than The Rock, so going after Taker's streak could play into that. The crowd reactions would be very interesting too as I think a lot of fans there would want to see Punk end it, whilst Taker will always have his following.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,444 ✭✭✭Dohnny Jepp

Punk maybe? It'll need to be someone who can carry taker to an awsome match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

for his last match i really think you have to choose the biggest star in the industry today, face John Cena. It'll also get the IWC to bang their drums about that old chestnut "Cena heel turn" again :P

    It can't be broken!!!!!

John Cena would have been the perfect opponent if Rocky wasn't about. Can you imagine the anti-cenation going crazy when JC has the STF on Taker in the middle of the ring!! The heat would be amazing!!!!!! Cena haters would just be living in fear of him ending the streak!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,468 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

lads, it's going to be Hunter if it's this year.

they don't need to do the Streak this year though, so I can see them waiting on the 20th; whether it's until WM 29 or 30.

that would be where my money would be.

I think ive said this before but my guess:

The Undertaker vs HHH vs HBK

triple threat for the streak vs his two most recent opponents for the streak, two best friends, who are both desperate to beat the streak having failed twice already at Wrestlemania. Also two guys who can carry a lot of the workload for the deadman and people he is really used to working with. It could obviously start along the lines of 2 v 1 but have the DX bros quickly turn on each other desperate to be the man that breaks the streak.

    Taker would win.

    Taker would win.

    true.

but as much as i like the idea, they'll have to figure out if one of the other 2 pins the other, what the outcome would be.

i suppose you get the same situation, whereby the two end up arguing with each other over who pins who, so still nobody would be pinned as their egos would be in the way.

the issue would have to be addressed, but i suppose it could work.

Well there are rumors that Brock Lesnar is going to return to WWE, so maybe Undertaker might face Lesnar. Afterall, this could have been what Undertaker was alluding to last year when he did that interview after the Lesnar/Cain fight and said "You wanna do it" or something like that.

Mick Foley is also set to return as well I believe, maybe Foley might face Taker. I mean if I remember correctly, in their past fueds, Foley always seemed to have Undertaker's number so it would proberly make an interesting fued going to Mania. As well as that I believe Foley has to tools to pull it off, and is the only one I think worthy enough to face Taker in his final match. Assuming of course it is his final match.

I do like the Taker, HHH, HBK triple threat match. It would sort of add a little bit more drama to it, if another person was involved, espeically if it was HHH and HBK who put on a good showing against Taker at the last few Manias and were arguably his biggest threats. The idea that Taker's streak could be ended if HHH or HBK were to pin each other would make for a great threat and wouldn't run down this years match. Considering that HHH nearly killed Taker in their match, how do you add on from that and still make it look as if Taker's streak is still in danger. Only adding both HHH and HBK to the equation is the way to go, IMO. But of course HBK is an uncertainty, he says he won't wrestle again so who knows.

Also if a triple threat between all 3 of them, did happen it would also add to the fact that both HHH and HBK have faced Taker twice at Wrestlmania. If they face Taker next year, then it will be the third time for both. 3 is the key number in all of this. 3 men, 3 chances, 3 options.

    Taker V Lesner
Never gonna happen! Unless of course its in a back alley with the headlights of a couple of cars to illuminate it! Two guys simply cant work together now and have only an interest in inflicting pain upon the other..
HBK categorically closed the door on any rematch at his final farewell speech in a touching point of respect for the dead man. He is certain NOTto return in any wrestling form.
Foley is set to return but at his age I would expect it in some sort of managers role ala against Vickie and her stable etc... Maybe even a contender for the GM role...
I see the WM match for HHH being against Nash and Laurenitis being some sort of partner to Nash. I would not discount a possible love triangle between Steph, HHH and Laurenitis as well....

In my opinion Taker doesnt do WM this time.. Why would they blow this firework with the Cena Rock match eclipsing everything?

It can't be any creepier than the time Bischoff snogged her. Nash would rather do it seeing as though he seems to fancy himself.

I think if he is to lose the 20-0 match that it will mean he is finished.. Like Michaels had his 2 massive mania matches at the end, Undertaker will either go 20-0 or he will lose and retire.. Ya get me??
And taker can still put the work in he's just got slower.. There is spots where younger guys such as punk would do some carrying but taker still holds his own.. For his age and size he's a real trooper to be still going.. A true legend. :)
