Of course you can, many countries require you to if you wanted to become a citizen of their country.

    NO, obviously a trolling attempt.

Just incase it was a legitimate question, I think that it should be the choice of the individual whether or not to be labelled based on where they come from. But I know I wouldnt have much time for an "irish" person openly admitting that he was not irish, based on his personal opinion for how the country has been run.

contradictory, maybe. but honest and true.

Doesn't mean you constitutionally stop being recognised as an Irish citizen here.

I've been trying to get out of the Catholic Church but they won't let me go

Typical, the girl you like will take off at speed and the one you don't want will stalk you as long as you have breath :D

I'll always keep my Irish citizenship - it's the only one I have!

If I could I'd give it to my cousin so she wouldn't need a visa to work in Europe. She's only entitled to a South African one and nobody wants that.

I would also choose to keep my British one over Irish any day. Simply for the fact that it offers greater mobility: Europe and the Commonwealth. That's a big chunk of the world!

obviously we're in a very shitty situation cos of all the money problems and it doesnt seem to be gettin any better, but i'm not goin to renounce my irish citizenship just cos we're in a bit of a hole!

Being irish is brilliant cos no-one outside of here knows what its like! its unique... i mean imagine being one of hundreds of millions in America or one of 20 million in London...

If I was up for a death penalty here, and I could get off that if I changed citizenship, yeah. In fact, Hell YEAH.

Or if you know. It was worth it in some fashion. Can't think what else would make it worth it. It'd probably start with M and end with oney though.

It's better to have an Irish passport than a British passport. It's easier travel on an Irish passport.

    Well?
Is there a reason for your question? Otherwise that a pretty thin OP.

I've considered it. I'm not certain either way.

Can you apply for citizenship of another country? Because if you were to renounce it, you wouldn't legally be able to stay here or go anywhere else...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Unless we hang FF by the bollox, who knows. We should not give these people the ability to fleece the country any further. Irish people are grand though. It's the political system that is wrong.

On what conditions? I mean, I would if offered a big bucket of money. I wouldn't for the fun of it. What would I get in return? :P

On second thought, maybe not. It's not required save for exceptional circumstances. Who knows.

The Irish are well liked all over the world, the English are not, this is common knowledge, don't know why you did not know that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 568 ✭✭✭TheyKnowMyIP

Don't get me wrong, Irish people are fantastic. It's just a crying shame what politics has done to this country. We deserve far better given our generosity throughout history. Our past track record alone is proof of that.

I am proud to be Irish however embarrassed to be from a country of greedy people that elected Fianna Fail for 14 years and left them destroy the country.

I would give up my citizenship no problem if required to do so to gain citizenship to a better country like the US or Australia, New Zealand etc. All this talk about Dana is only driven by the FF media in an attempt to take away votes from her and divert them into that ball of Sean Gallahger's arms, he is a Fianna Fail traitor and a leopard never loses his spots remember that.

Here is the actual form to denounce citizenship. You can even reapply as an as Irish citizen. This does not change the fact that a person born in Ireland was infact born in Ireland, or that an alien was not born in Ireland. Obviously.
