Back To Education Allowance - Payment Timeframe

    Hi everyone,

I'm a student in Limerick City and have been patiently waiting for the allowance to come through since early September.

I definitely fit the criteria and received a letter about three weeks ago requesting some random documentation - haven't heard anything since.

Today, I visited the social welfare office and was basically fobbed off. I was given absolutely no information at all. I asked whether they would provide me with a timeframe for payment to begin, but the clerk simply shrugged her shoulders and flippantly said I don't know, you'll get a letter soon - nothing else.

Is anybody else receiving the payment yet as this is beyond farcical at this stage? - I am completely broke and really need the payments to start coming through.

I'm cuurentley in the same boat as yourself. Been waiting 5 weeks for mine to come through, it's starting to get very frustrating at this stage. Broke ptretty much the whole time.

Does anybody know if this allowance is backdated?
