Its been on lockdown since 8 or so, they closed off the whole area, the explosion was a controlled explosion too apparently.

Does it really need an explanation, they bombed the City of Culture office, they don't want to see Derry as City of Culture 2013 for some strange reason, once that part is announced you'll be the first to know ;) Its the second time they've bombed it, it was no accident.

Maybe repeating what was said on the radio. Maybe using Google, you know, it's a search engine which one would use to gather information on events such as your OP... Just an idea...

No you didn't, you just made it grammatically incorrect, made it clear that you're a Unionist, and attempted to steer a thread about a possible terrorist attack into a tedious argument at a time when people are genuinely far more concerned about whether there have been any casualties

It is not known the exact time the device detonated.
It is the second time that the office has been targeted after a pipe bomb planted by dissident republicans in January caused minor damage to the building.
Derry's winning of the UK City of Culture title has secured cross-community support in Northern Ireland.
The city's Shipquay Street was closed off tonight by officers investigating the blast which they reported at around 11pm.

Back to the actual event its self. The beeb is a little more informative compared to our national broadcaster.
A bomb has exploded outside the City of Culture offices in Londonderry.

The explosion happened at 22:45 BST in Guildhall Square on Wednesday. Police received information that the bomb had been left there and they had just an hour to evacuate the area.

There are no reports of any injuries. But it's understood there was minor damage to the building.

A large part of the city centre remains cordoned off. It is the second attack at the offices this year.

People who heard this latest bomb go off said it was a large blast and they saw smoke billowing out of the building.

In January, a small explosion damaged a door of the building. Dissident republicans carried out that attack.

Foyle MP Mark Durkan said: "Thankfully no-one has been injured but those graces are no thanks to those who are behind this attack.

"They are out to destroy and they don't care if they injure or kill when they are at it.

"Derry is a city with many challenges and with many difficulties. But the City of Culture is one of the opportunities we have."

Then why did they ring in a threat

What about the bomb Disposal experts who have to deal with the device, or if someone just happened upon it?

Then why did they ring in a threat

These scumbags ring the police and claim a woman is being attacked/raped and then ambush and shoot at the police.

Im not in any way supporting them, I just dont understand why they ring in the attack. Why do they bother at all if they are going to rat themselves out?

Ah yea, wasn't implying you were!

They don't want any civilians to get hurt in fear of turning the public against them. Which shows how out of touch they are with reality!

How nice of them  They make me fúcking sick to be honest, dont they realise no one cares as long as there is peace?

Normally you would add a link in order to back your post up. You didn't, and it wasn't hard to find something, however small, on the internet. It's good to be somewhat informative when you post something as serious as this.

Unfortunately I don't think this will be the last attack either. Would be nice if these loo las would understand their time is up. What exactly is the point? They have very little support, and those who support this are degenerate scumbags...

Was in Derry today and walked past the City of Culture Office, surprise surprise the DUP were out protesting with huge banners saying LONDONderry against bombing and LONDONderry for City of Culture.

They know full well that it will provoke a response and did it anyway, sad stuff from both sides.
