Speeding ticket.........but it wasn't me!

    Has anyone experience of getting a ticket quashed? This was issued (70kmph in a 60 zone) from a Garda Gatso van for my reg (photo of the plate on the summons) at a time and place that I am 100% certain wasn't me/my car as I was elsewhere in the country at that time on that day and I can prove this.

    So there is a possibility my reg has been cloned, but the Guards are investigating, so I'll know soon enough. I've written to the Super in the issuing station making my case, but I'm concerned that they will realise that the time/date stamp from their camera was incorrect and that they may 'decide' it refers to a different time and day and simply re-issue the ticket - is this a possibility or are they obliged to cancel the ticket if its incorrect and are prevented from re-issuing it?

    So you were caught speeding by a gatso van but the time on the picture is wrong?

    Well, my number plate was - I'm awaiting to see what the full image will show. Me? or someone else driving a similar car with a cloned number plate?

    While the road is one I occasionally travel (<1 per week) I wasn't on it at all that day, and I was 100 km away at the time shown on the summons. So, if it was me, it was at a different time on a different day.
