Was the 29/09/08 Ireland's 9/11?

At least once every century, every country has a catastrophic day in it's history.

I think the 29th of September 2008 was that day for Ireland. The day when Brian Lenihan and Brian Cowen signed a bank bailout agreement to help their friends in the banks.

What do you think? Was 29/08 our 9/11?

Not really comparing like with like there though.

You could as easily say it's our Black Friday or our JFK Assassination.

I think the deaths of nearly 3000 people is in no way comparable to us being saved from ourselves.
    Cop on OP.

    100% agree!

seriously money may make the world go around but your health is your wealth. I'm sure if they had the change the families of the victims of 9/11 would give their life savings to have their loved ones back.

we may be feeling the effects of the bailout (ie less income more taxes but inmost cases life went on as normal. the people who lost lived ones though had to adapt to life without them and I'm sure Its still hurting for them around anniversary time.

seriously op not the greatest of comparisons to make!
