try to keep it fairly straight
you need to be fairly long too though
and go for the middle of the greens
do that and you should score well
its an over rated course though
go to the heritage instead much cheaper and miles better

Cheers for that, I heard it was lovely and for 55 euro for the round and a 3 course meal isnt bad value at all in my book! Playing Sat :)

I hate these replies - Tones is delighted with himself, looking forward to a nice round of golf and a meal in a renowned club and on comes Mike to tell him where he should have gone. I'd love to tell you where you should have gone! Mikeunt indeed!

That was an excellent deal Tones which I got myself as well. I can't wait to test the place out!

I got one as well. Let us know how it goes.

Any problem getting a sat tee time? Did you have to book a good bit in advance?

Smurfit is enjoyable. Lots of opportunities to score early on, lots of opportunities to wash a few later on.

If you stay out of the fairway bunkers, the front 9 is one of the easier I've played.

    Clubhouse is superb.

& theres a good chance you could have it to yourself! :D

Agree with the others - decent course, some very strong holes, put yourself in the right spots though and you can score. Enjoy!!

well for that money and the meal included its well worth it
the standard green fee is too high in comparison with other courses in the area though

    Hi lads

Have played the course a few times now. I enjoyed it each time and the course in always in good shape.

Some very good par 3's i thought and you get to play most clubs in the bag at some stage. Driver not always the best option but it is a long course.

The hole with the artificial cliff type thing is one of my least favourites (think it is the 7th).
Ninth hole is a very nice hole. Tight driving hole with a slight dogleg left that playing the first time, you will not notice. Keep as near to the left hedge as possible for a shot into the green.

Back nine is a better nine and is a good challenge. Plenty of water round too and a great 18th par 5 over two lakes (drive and approach).

Hope you enjoy it. Last time I was up there, a local pro was playing 18 and he joined up with us. Made the round.

Jesus man did you actually play in that today!? :(

Yep played...wetter than I have been on a course ever(well maybe 1 other time I may have been worse) Still enjoyed it though cracking course. Front 9 was ok incl a bird on the 6th :) but the rain took it's toll in the end.

Bad drive on 18th meant no chance of going for it in 2 but at that stage I was just trying to hold onto the clubs.

Definitely be back on a good day!

    Food was top as well.

    Folks,
I'm playing the Smurfit course tomorrow with the pigsback deal. Anyone tell me how this course compares with the Ryder cup course? Have never even been in the K Club, so looking forward to it.
