Will be in Murcia, Spain, soon for 4 days golf.
We’re going on spec. and have played Hacienda Requilme, Corvera, La Torre and El Vale before. I believe Corvera has since been “mothballed”.
To anyone who has played in this area, what other courses would you recommend?

Howya David .. you defo have to give Hacienda del Alamo a stop. Great track similar in a lot of ways to the desert courses in Arizona with huge waste areas, and was used as one of the qualifying school courses last year - you wont be disappointed.

Other course which looks fairly straight forward but as you work your way into it you discover it's a ball bank is La Serena. Shortish enough but absolute dogs of par 3's IIRC. It has more of a links type feel to it as the wind plays a big factor there.

Other course we played .. and it's a bit out of the way was Mosa Trajectum .. 3 nines you can pick and mix .. course looked pretty much in need of a drop of water on the fairways, sorta dusty place, but some great holes there too. I'd rank the courses in the order I've set them out here tbh

Just had a peek @ Hacienda and they're doing a special til end of November of 2 GF & Buggy for 109 notes .. La Serena 2 GF & Buggy will cost 80 which isn't bad for Spain

    That's great info., DoctaDee.
Will pass it on to the guy who is organising the green fees.
    Many thanks.:)

Usually go there every year although we stay around La Zenia which is about 20 mins from Murica airport. I would recommend Hacienda del Alamo played there once great course. Not too far from La serena is Roda a very good course in my opinion some easy holes and some tricky ones. One we played last year for first time was Las Colinas a great couse well worth a visit.

All 3 courses in La Manga are excellent

    1. South Course is longest of the 3
    2. North Course is shorter and easier
    4. West course is tighter and more hilly but has some fantastic holes.

Played all the Nicklaus courses along his Polaris World Golf trail and they're ok actually, but if you want a real test play his championship course - Condado de Alhama.

Takes a little getting to, but has the weirdest clubhouse with a large swimming pool right in the centre of it. the course is very challenging too. Seems like more bunkers than grass at times.

If you have the money - not just for the rounds but for the beers and food - you will not better La Manga.

After shopping around looking for places near our base, we've booked Hacienda Riquelme, Peraleja and La Serena.

Will probably try La Torre on spec on the day we're coming home.

Will let everyone know how we got on.

Many thanks for all the posts with recommendations.:)

Played Hacienda Riqeleme, then Peraleje and La Serena.
On our final day, La Torre was unavailable and weather was doubtful. We left it till last minute to book and chose Hacienda again as we thought it the best of the bunch and most convenient for us, travel-wise.
To rate the 3 courses as impartially as we could, we scored them from 1 – 10 over the following 10 headings:
    • Resort Presentation
    • Course Maintenance Standard
    • Topography
    • Course Layout / Design
    • Fairways
    • Bunkers
    • Greens, Surrounds & Approaches
    • Upkeep of water hazards
    • Ambience (proximity to motorway / aircraft noise)
    • Off course facilities
Hacienda Riquelme came out at 84, Pelaleje at 67 and La Serena at 58.
Great trip ..... looking forward to the next one.

We were in Murcia last year and booked the three your playing and roda for an average of €45 through clubmurcia.com. It's a good service because they won't book you on a course that's been sanded etc. They also told us not to book until 8 weeks beforehand to get the best deals

My favourite was riquelme. Peralja wasn't in good nick and looked like a Nama course. The other 2 are close to the airport and good to play on the way home
