Hi, just wondering could anyone help. I was in a night club last friday week. I had only a small bit of cash left and was near end of night so i used my Debit card to pay for a round of drinks. It should of been 32 euro but was put in as 320 euro. I only noticed this the next morning. I went into the hotel the next mmorning and i was told that they noticed the mistake when doing up the till and that the money owed will be returned to my Debit Card on monday morning. Its now 7 working days and I havent recieved anything. Not even a phone call or email. I have emailed them and tried ringing to no avail. What can i do now? Can i go to small claims court or should i speak to a solicitor first?
I have the receipt from the transaction but the thing is the time on the receipt is 12:30 but i know for a fact it was well near 2am as i wasnt that drunk :). So if the cctv was shown at 12:30 it wont show me buying drink at this hour?
Need some advice as im lost what to do
    Thanks

Ring them back, maybe they forgot and ask to speak to the manager and the accounts person. But early for small claims dont you think.

They have acknowledged that they were at fault. Go into the hotel and speak to the person who spoke to you on the phone. They may be able to able to sort it out there and then.

You might want to also flag with your bank that there was an overcharge but they will probably ask you to sort it at source.

Go into the place in person and don't leave until they have processed the refund with your debit card. If this doesn't work, go to a friendly solicitor and get them to send a warning letter. They might be inclined to do this for nothing or next to nothing. If this fails, then think about the small claims court, but remember you only have six months to go there.

Try talking to your bank and see if it can be reversed.

the same thing happened to me in a restaurant, and the funds took 10 working days at least to come back to my account. Call the bank and tell them the story, the funds might be visible to them

From the perspective of the bank, there's no reason why it should take seven working days to arrive back into your account.

I assume the reason for the delay is that the money is stuck in merchant services (Laser/ Visa Debit), in which case the nightclub management should be able to advise you on a timeline for a return of the money.
