How many triangle sandwiches can you eat in one sitting?

When your making a sandwich with two slices of bread do you align the top slice exactly to the bottom slice (crust to crust) or do you go top to toe.

Surely it's top to toe, I mean if you make a sandwich with one slice of bread and fold it over it's the same.

Has to be aligned top-to-top and bottom-to-bottom, then cut diagonally into triangles.

A sandwich made with one slice of bread is not a sandwich, merely a piece of bread folded over some filling (e.g. ham) - not the same at all. 2 is the minimum pieces of bread needed for a 'proper' sandwich :p

The big question is triangles or squares

Squares with a straight crust and a round crust.

    Hijacker!

You shouldn't swallow triangles. It's dangerous.

You fold it down the middle for symmetry, you uncouth octopus!

Hmm, a hotly-debated topic no doubt. Let me contribute my 2 highly devalued euro cents.

I associate correctly aligned, diagonally sliced, "fancy" sandwiches with going out and buying them. Or, in the case of sandwiches cut into four triangles, with my Granny (who I should mention makes a mean sandwich, if there were Michelin Stars for Granny Sambos, she would have more than one could count).

However at home, when I make a Sambo, it is on two pieces of bread, roughly cut in half square to the sides of the bread with the same buter knife I used to spread the various toppings I eat in them. When making ones sandwich at home, it is for comfort food, and appearance is generally unimportant.

Only if the person making them wants to waste a load of bread.

I find that my brain doesn't quite process the fractions involved with these sandwiches.

I would happily eat two normal sandwiches for lunch and be fulfilled. That's two slices of bread with something in the middle, cut into two. At these fuctions when the sandwich is cut into four however, they turn into biscuit-type snacks where I can eat an unlimited amount of them so long as there's tea nearby.

I think I eat an average of 8-12 of these things at wakes especially, whereas in normal everyday life I wouldn't dream of eating six normal lunch-sized sandwiches. It would be sandwich overkill.

Couldn't agree more. I throw in a sly ham one every couple to keep things interesting for myself.

Both need onion as well. Brown is ok but prefer white.

No, no, NO. You're getting it all wrong. A sandwich is two slices of normal sized bread, with filling, regardless of how many times it is thereafter subdivided. You are a convenience food novice.

    Please allow me to illustrate:

    Generally three.

I've recently discovered that I feel full after three, so I always just cover the fourth and leave it in the fridge.

*(Am I actually saying these words?)
