Hi folks, I'm certain this kind of question gets asked a lot and I have looked on the forum but my brain has turned to mush as I haven't found an answer.............heading to LA soon and GF wants me to pick up an iPhone 4s over there for her......is there much point? It sounds cheaper but think AT&T tie you into a contract.???? Or is it just a pain in the h*le ????

sim free 16gb 4s will be $649 plus state sales tax of 9% of about $58 = $707

    $707 = 517 euro

no word on sim free irish prices yet, but close to 700 euro i'd bet.

If you buy an iPhone in the states to use here you will have to buy it unlocked from apple as 120 Minutes posted above. None of the US carriers will unlock an iPhone under any circumstances AFAIK.

If you can't find a thread here about buying in the US, are you sure you're able for an iPhone?
