Would you support a 'being fat tax'?

After seeing tonight's Prime Time, I noticed there wasn't one mention of the idea of a 'being fat tax', so I'm asking would you support it? I'm well aware it would be extremely politically incorrect however at the moment the idea of an 'eat fat tax' is quite inefficient, all the population would pay for the stupidity of the 20%, so the other 80% are paying more for their food through no fault of their own.

I know there are certain people who are overweight or obese through no fault of their own (genically etc etc) and you would have to make to make exceptions in those cases.

we'll see how quick the "it's genetics" groups lose weight all of a sudden if something like this came through.

It's a bit stupid really, though. How do you define "being fat"?

Is being 80kg fat? 90kg? Would you base it on height:weight ratio, like BMI? What about somebody who has a large muscle mass but isn't fat, yet has a high BMI? Would you use body measurements? Or one of those body fat percentage tests, that are quite inaccurate, and not only vary from testing method to testing method, but also to do with when you take the test during the day, and what you have eaten and drank that day.

    depends on how its implemented.
I dont have the best diet, but I train 6/7 times a week, so I'll what the f*ck I want.
If its a general tax on all bad foods, then they can go f*ck themselves.

Yes lets create a police state where we tell everyone how to live.

Team sports can also be dangerous so tax people who play those. Followed by anyone who crosses roads. Or people who stay out in the sun too long because that might skin cancer. Wow, so easy to think of ways to tax people and take the risk out of life.

    Oh definitely.

If there's one thing Ireland needs more of, it's taxes.

Will mountain climbers and hill walkers get billed for their rescues? Costs thousands to mobilise a team and helicopter
Will skateboarders get billed the real cost of their hospital visit?

You can stretch this OP to tax anyone that costs the State money
And those two are usually fit people

So no to the fat tax
