Lads anyone ever get their gundogs an identity tattoo in the event of it being
    stolen?
In england i hear its common practice to get this done and its a normally a
vet that does it,ive looked into this but none of the ones ive spoken to perform
    this procedure.
If so where can it be done?

As far as I know, greyhounds have to be tattooed so ild ask a greyhound trainer. Why don't you get the dog microchipped instead?? It works: I sold a pup few years ago and they didn't change papers (I was still registered owner) so when he got lost I was contacted

i thinks its a good idea but as far as i know its only greyhounds have them. was out coursing in Tyrone years ago and came across a nice greyhound in the middle of no where :eek:checked local farms and threw up a poster in local shop but no replies. A local greyhound man checked the tattoo number for me and made a few calls, we soon found out it was stolen out of the Dunngannon dog track up North. Called the registered owner, explained to him id found it. He came to the house to get it. He said it was stolen 2 years prior and thought he would never see it again.

My Father was way into Grayhounds years ago we even sold a dog "My Cara" to white City to all that dont know mecka place for dogs and we always had the dogs marked there done at Birth it's like a number plate on a car great way of tracking dogs But as said eailer it's Micro chip time now though I still think they mark the Dogs today so if you want to keep your dog Micro chip the Dog:D
