I believe they are UK pay subscriber channels.

They also cannot be tuned in on a Sky box

They are viewable on an Irish sub just not on a sky box.

No they are available on an Irish Sub. Just not a sky box. Please check it out. It has been well proven on this board. Itv 3&4 hd are active on the cards also.

Yeah; I can get them on my Ferguson Ariva STB when I insert my Irish sub Sky card.

Does it matter if you have a HD sub on your Irish card?

Good question. Don't know about that. It is a Pay channel not FTV like some of the ITV1HD so I'm betting it must be HD sub. Will make a few calls and find out though.

Not sure, to be honest. Only got the Ariva fairly recently, and I've had the HD sub all that time. Not for much longer though (cancelled my sub, effective at the end of the month).

Checked it out, ITV2,3,4 HD only available on a HD sub.

Can you you receive for example Discovery channel on the Ferguson box? By using your Sky card to descramble it like you would with the Sky HD box itself? And can you then record any of the Sky channels to a hard drive using the Ferguson box?

I'd be very interested in this if I could capture the .ts transport streams from Sky channels, would be a far easier way to archive stuff from the Sky box than having to hook it up to a DVD recorder.

I can't see why you can't receive any channels you are currently subscribed to. The Ariva card reader does indeed de-scramble any pay channels you are subscribed to. Just make sure you you tune the channels in! As for recording, you can record to an external hard drive (I use an IOMEGA 500GB formatted to FAT 32). The only thing is if you record a ''large'' file (a High Def movie or sports event for instance, or even an hour long documentary on the Discovery channel!), the recording will take the form of several .ts files rather than 1 large file. That means using a video joining programme, although you can do it using quick time player if you convert the files to quick time format.

I myself have Sky HD and do not receive ITV HD which is free to air as it is not on the Irish EPG on the Sky box. It is pretty cool that you can record Sky's channels using the Ariva like this and would make for easier archiving.

Do you receive ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD, and ITV4 HD as while ITV1HD & SD,2,3 & 4 in standard def are are all free to air, I thought ITV2HD, ITV3HD & ITV4HD were only available UK sky customers and are not free to air, so if I was to use my Irish SkyHD card in the Arriva box I'd get access to the ITV 2,3 & 4 channels in High-Def that are blocked on the ROI Sky EPG?

    Or am I missing something?

No, it seems to be legit alright.

Probably just some technical c*ck up, on ITV's part that leaves way for this loophole, lol. :P

Yeah, I just tried it out on my Technomate 6900HD and by inserting my Sky HD card it clears ITV2,3 & 4 in HD, and it works! I always thought that only dodgy Dreamboxes worked with the Sky card as I always thought it was locked down.

It only works with the channels I subscribe to and as I am not a Sky sports subscriber it wouldn't clear them but would clear History HD for example, Pity it dosen't clear Channel 5 HD.

    Anyway nice find this! :)

Will this work on Triax st-hd 527 ci receiver?
There doesnt seem to be any way to search on 29500 on this receiver.

Managed to tune in ITV 2,3 AND 4 HD on above receiver but getting message "communication with card failed".
Is this a sky card problem or will this receiver just not do what the arriva 120 will do?
I have a working sky HD subscription.

Only if it's got a UK subscription.

Its a card I got about 4 years ago. When I scan frequencies for itv 2 hd, nothing appears. Did complete scan, got about 1200 channels, found itv 2hd but picture was scrambled. Could card be out of date?

No, it sounds like you have a Freesat from Sky FTV card; in order to view ITV2, 3 & 4 in HD you must have an active Sky viewing card (with paid subscription) and insert it into a generic satellite receiver like a Ferguson Ariva etc.

Agreed. I was able to get them on my Ferguson Ariva box when my Sky sub was active. Cancelled my sub a few weeks backand stuck my card back in, but no joy. I guess it's because the sub isn't active now.

    :-(

Sorry for being dumb about this. I have an irish sky subscription.
Will this work to get itv2 hd?

It has to be a paid Sky subscription with HD.

I cancelled sky hd part of my subscription a few months ago.
Only have basic package. So if I get HD subscription back I could use card in Ariva 250 to unlock ITV 2,3 and 4HD?

I just tried it with my Technomate box and my Sky card would not unscramble any High Def channel only SD channels. Looks like they have since closed this loophole.

Thanks, was just about to ring them to reactivate my HD sub.
Thanks to everyone for the advice.

They must have made the HD channels tied to the Sky box like the premium channels.

Whatever they did it no longer works, I never used it anyway but I tried it a few months ago and you could view the HD channels on the Technomate with the card inserted and when I tried it today they were scrambled.
